Robert Hazen, Shaunna Morrison, and Alexandra Ostroverkhova were invited by Dr. Sergey Krivovichev (Kola Science Center, Russian Academy of Science) to present their work on data-driven discovery in mineral systems at the XIX Meeting on Crystal Chemistry, XRD and Spectroscopy in Apatity, Kola Peninsula, Russia. Krivovichev pioneering a new field of chemical and structural complexity of minerals - converting the chemistry and symmetry of minerals into bits of information upon which we can perform statistical analyses regarding changes in mineralogical complexity through deep time.
